Merry Christmas/Hanukkah From Japan

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE ! I HOPE YOU HAD A PEACEFUL & HAPPY HAPPY CHRISTMAS!!

So Christmas went and New Years is coming coming fast ! Our Christmas here in Tokyo went very well with delicious Christmas chicken that we reserved from KFC before and with a tasty Christmas cake from Baskin Robins that we got on Christmas eve.

In Japan two most important things to have on your Christmas table are chicken and cake.

At baskin Robins we could not get a christmas cake since all were reserved but we did get a normal cake from there that was great !

There was a long line at 24th as well

This is the normal Christmas box that you get when you order a Christmas cake.

This is what we got !

Luckily we had our Christmas chicken reserved from KFC november already so we got the set that we wanted. I have to say that I love KFC in Japan ! In that box was the perfect amount for us as well.

I actually forgot to take a photo of the chicken because I was starving.

But this the cake we ate.

And after we got everything eaten we took a breather and relaxed a bit and then we started to make the Christmas house that we bought and here are the results 😀

Now we are in a hurry with packing and getting ready for our trip to Aomori, to be exact Hirosaki city. We’ll be staying there about a week. Today we will go there from Tokyo station with a night buss and we will be coming back at 3rd of January in a Shinkansen (bullet train).

I’ll have my camera with me so I will try to get some beautiful winter landscape photo as well as photos of the Hirosaki castle.

Also I will be updating at least a little from my ipad while I am there! but for now Have a great week and HAppy new year 2012 for everyone ! thank you so much for following my life in Japan so far !

Hagoitaichi Market in Asakusa

This was my first time to visit a Hagoitaichi market. The market was full of “decorations” for new years that bring good luck for the coming year.

Of course the market was full of delicious food stands full of Japanese foods from Sushi to omonomiyaki and some more special as well like Ramen burger.

I’m now sitting here at home and watching a Christmas music show live on tv with all famous Japanese and foreign artists (including lady gaga I think), my girl is cooking delicious christmas food at the same time.

but here are some very interesting photos from this event at Asakusa, Tokyo.

Christmas Chicken in Japan

Decided to make one more quick post before we go since my girlfriend is making up and deciding what to take 😀

So Christmas Chicken, one of the most normal things in Japanese Christmas table or as my girlfriend puts it “It is a have to” , We reserved our Chicken from KFC ( LOOOVE KFC!) probably we will have to wait in line for hour or two until we get it since 24th of December but doesn’t matter 😀

You can get Christmas chicken reserved from many places (mostly fast food) or just go in to a store to get it if there are any left (doubt it)

Now that we have our chicken worry done, the next worry is of course a normal Japanese tradition Christmas Cake! I will make a post about that later !

Once again.. Shopping day !

Hey hey !

After I got finished with that dude hacking me, things got better. Saturday we had a crazy rain and wind here at Chiba and my brilliant idea was to go to wallmart quickly to get some food with my girl and on our way there “I” broke two umbrellas.. well the wind did ! Also my shoes got very wet and more broken heh I have to buy new shoes this week!

Got a love the way Japanese dry their umbrellas after a rainy day.
Heavy rain yesterday, poor umbrellas.

Sunday started great, my girl made us delicious breakfast with bacon, french toast and salad. Already at 9am the sky was clear and the sun was shining with +20celcius!

We left to Lalaport at Minami-funabashi and after that had a stop at Ikea to see the Christmas decorations and of course eat the meatballs there.

Lalaport is a big mall, great place to do some shopping. You can find Lalaport in many places (including chiba.tokyo and Yokohama). Little tip don’t go there on weekend, its full of people 😀

On our way to Lalaport, a lot of Christmas things everywhere!

It’s a bit normal to see English and other languages behind some products but to see Finnish is a bit rare !
Lalaport Funabashi

These are sooo delicious ! Next time I go there I will buy a big bag.. mmm or maybe in Costco ! better prices !
Lalaport Funabashi

If you now live in Tokyo or coming to Tokyo for Christmas and thinking “where should I buy a Christmas tree?” think no further !
Depends which you like more plastic or a real tree.
1. Plastic you can buy pretty much every where, including Ikea.

2.But if you are like me and want a real tree, go to Ikea they have real trees outsides in many sizes and are surprisingly cheap !
Ikea in Chiba

We ate at Ikea of course like the tradition goes. I had my 20 meatballs and my girl had 15meatballs (women size) .

After ikea we went to Nishi-Funabashi station to change trains back to Tozai line and in there is a great “gaijin shop” a shop full of things from US and Europe. Like this !
Shopping day at Chiba
These things are very delicious as well ! I make Hotdogs with these !

Soon as we arrived to Gyotoku station we went to Donki (normal store that has EVERYTHING) and got some snacks. When we got out from the store it was raining like crazy and we had no umbrellas and no will to buy again an umbrella since our house is full of umbrellas heh.

we went to Mister donuts to get our dinner ( that I just ate, delicious)

It looked like there was no end to the rain so we decided to have a little break and the nearest coffee shop.

We were playing with my ipad a little Tower madness and before me noticed the rain had stopped and we could get going back home !

Roppongi Hills Christmas illuminations 2011

What a site !!!!

Yesterday evening we went to Roppongi Hills to see the breathtaking Christmas lights and in every sense of the word “breathtaking” they really were breathtaking!

I got “some” great shots but I have to go back there on a later date and try to catch some better ones !

I HIGHLY recommend people to visit Roppongi Hills now to see those beautiful lights, if I am not mistaken they light up everyday at about 5pm.

Here are some photos of these amazing “Christmas decorated trees”

After we got done with the Christmas section of Roppongi Hills I decided that we have to go to Hard Rock Cafe at Roppongi, I got a bit lost while walking there but not too badly !

I got way too full there and could not even finish my potatoes.

Some Nacho appetizers to start the dinner
